Perception Records is a Leeds based music label that has been running since 1991.

The brainchild of producers Dopekick and Era, Perception Records set out to showcase an ambiguous sound with no fixed boundaries from an eclectic blend of both artists' individual ideas and inspirations.

The brainchild of producers Dopekick and Era, Perception Records set out to showcase an ambiguous sound with no fixed boundaries from an eclectic blend of both artists' individual ideas and inspirations.

This was highlighted on the label's first release, a collaboration between the two artists, Ember Days an album which had critics drawing comparisons with trailblazers such as DJ Shadow and Boards Of Canada. Dopekick's follow up, Solid Proof EP was as equally well received, as it pushed the themes which began on Ember Days to an even more experimental limit.

Yet, because of the economic pressures of running a truly independent label we have, as yet, been unable to fund further releases. However, our mission remains the same and we are in the process of developing and expanding this site so that it will be an outlet for our music which we will continue to create.

Coming soon to the site will be a Create Your Own Perception Records Compilation CD. This feature will allow you to buy a CD containing the music of your choice from the site. And don't forget that you can listen and purchase both Ember Days and Solid Proof on here already.
